Setting to rest speculation about her entering active politics, Surinder Kaur Badal, wife of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, today said she has no intention of contesting polls. "I have seen politics closely for the last 50 years, but do not harbour any political ambitions."
Speculation had been rife about her contesting from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat ever since the talk of Sukhbir Badal being considered for elevation as Chief Minister started gaining ground. The segment is being nurtured well by the Badals ever since they came to power last year.
Saying that tickets would be announced soon, she said development projects initiated by the SAD-BJP regime would help them sweep the LS polls.
She was here to create awareness about helping in the community kitchen (langar) at the Darbar Sahib. She addressed the public in Dakala and Samana.
Claiming that this initiative was not aimed at making political gains, she said she wanted to bring people closer to the religion and away from drugs. Surinder Kaur said she would visit every constituency to exhort people to perform sewa.
