Pakistan captain Younis Khan has said that he and the team continue to miss playing at home. Pakistan beat New Zealand by 138 runs in their three-match ‘home’ one-day series, being played in Abu Dhabi. the teams will then move to Dubai to play two twenty20 matches.
“Although we have a lot of supporters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we still need to play some games in Pakistan,” Younis said. “I hope that we’ll soon play again in Pakistan.”
There has been no international cricket in Pakistan since the visiting Sri Lankan side’s team bus was ambushed on their way to the stadium for a Test match in Karachi early this year.
Skipper praises Afridi
Captain Younis Khan has praised Man of the Match Shahid Afridi for his effort on Tuesday in Pakistan's comprehensive victory over New Zealand in the first one-day international here. Afridi blasted 70 from 50 balls to help Pakistan reach the score of 287/9 and then claimed two wickets, including that of New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori, off consecutive balls during New Zealand’s chase.
“He [Afridi] is a fantastic performer,” Younis was quoted as saying by Cricinfo. “The last couple of years he worked well with his bowling and now with his batting as well. It was a thorough professional job led by Afridi and (Kamran) Akmal. They changed the game after we were in trouble in the first 10 overs,” said Younis
New Zealand were in a good position when they began their bowling, pushing Pakistan on the back foot by taking two wickets with no runs on the board. But there wasn’t much for New Zealanders to celebrate in the later overs as Pakistan made a whopping 107 runs in the last 10 overs.
