Rahul Gandhi along with children and the widow of the slain Intelligence Officer Francis Indwar at their house in Ranchi.

“When my father was killed, I was 19 years old. You are much younger. I understand your pain. You must study as much as you can.”

This was Rahul Gandhi speaking to Abhishek, the 10-year-old son of Special Branch Inspector Francis Induwar who was beheaded by Maoists in Jharkhand earlier this month.

The Congress general secretary arrived in the state hit by Naxal violence today, and spent some 15 minutes with the family of the slain police officer — his wife Sunita and their three school-going sons Abhishek, Anitesh and Animesh.

With a garlanded portrait of Induwar kept on a chair and a dozen-odd relatives and neighbours standing around, Rahul asked Abhishek what he wanted to become when he grew up.

“A police officer,” said the youngest Induwar, without a moment’s hesitation, as smiles came to the faces of his mother and two elder brothers.

Four armed CPI (Maoist) cadres picked up Induwar from Hembrom Bazaar in Khunti district on September 30 evening. His decapitated body was found at Raisa Ghati near Ranchi some time after dawn on October 6.

The state government has since provided Sunita with a compensation of Rs 54.45 lakh, and a teacher’s job at Ranchi’s Balkrishna High School. Several VIPs including Governor K Sankarnarayanan have called on the family. But Rahul’s visit today was special. “We are so happy that he came,” said Anup, Inspector Induwar’s nephew, fighting back tears.

Rahul spoke individually with every member of the family, asking them about Induwar, and about their own lives and living conditions. “He asked me, ‘What is the way out of the Naxalite violence?’ I told him that if the benefits of the state government’s development measures reach the poorest of the poor, a significant part of the problem can be overcome,” Sunita told The Indian Express after Rahul had left.

Lost Father-----By: romesh.sharma | 16-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Rahul lost his father and his father lost mother, why and what were the reasons behind their assassinations is the question he should find answer of.Discontentment of the people caused by divisive politics, favouring one community and suppressing/disrespecting the values of others, tend to change people into extreme actions. With new tricks and cunning manipulations of words;and exaggeratedly publicity can/will have adverse effects/results.His actions are not only anti-BJP but anti majority Hindu and Hinduism itself, perhaps unconciously but it is so.Some wise person said JAB CHUINTE KI MAUT NAZDIQ AATI HAI USKE PAR NIKLTE HAIN.I don't wish him anything like that he has to tred carefully and remain within limits. He is nothing but a misled,miscalculated,over-enthusiat demagogue with fair skin and the people he is visiting around have complex and regard almost every rich,he has funds beyond limit to invest to buy these ingnorants. The day he was appointed GS,a new young crook was born -Rahul
Rahaul's visitBy: rammoahn | 16-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward It is only because there is an election coming there. This 54.45 lakhs will reach them if the Congress party will win the election only. But Madhu Khoda and Shibhu Soren are the leaders there and this lip sympathy of the Yuvaraj will become a nightmare when they try to get that money now offered for public consumption. Are they going to offer simialr amounts to 17 policemen of Gadcahroli too. Or as the election is over, no beneifits so 10 lakh only will be given. Dirty politics this Rahul baba..
Rahul Gandhi and Naxallites By: MOHAN DADDIKAR | 16-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Instead of making such a public show of sympatahy, let Rahul Gandhi show enough courage to move alone, without any police protection in the Naxalite inested areas and persuade the Naxalites from resorting to violent means and to advise them to adopt decmocratic and peaceful means to achieve their noble ends of social justic. Showing sympathy protected by hundreds of policemen will not serve any purpose wxcept gaining some cheap popularity.
visitBy: yohan | 16-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward We appreciate rahul's visit to induwar's family. will he visit gadchiroli also where 17 policemen were killed by naxals. or he will not go there as the state is ruled by congress. he should also visit andhra, another congress ruled state, where naxals are killing many. his request that orissa and jharkand should take more action is appreciated. why he cant tell the same thing to congress ruled andhra and maharashtra govts?
