Q* We hear you are out of Saat Phere?
Yes. I am quitting the show. I have been lucky to play Saloni, who had so many flavours to her. I played a child (a la Sridevi’s role in Sadma), a banjaran and even turned negative. To get such a role at the beginning of your career is a blessing. But I have been working continuously for the last three years without a break. Now, I want to spend some time with my family, which is why I am leaving the show.
Q* Is it your decision or the producer’s?
Of course it’s my decision. I conveyed it to the producer and they respect my decision. However, they told me I cannot quit immediately. They want to work out how my character will exit.
Q* What is the track right now?
Nahar is not well and I am taking care of him.
Q* How has the journey been so far?
It’s been great. Whatever I am today is because of the show. I feel proud to be associated with it. People have appreciated and accepted me, I think I have got more than what I asked for and I am grateful to God for that.
Q* There was a controversy about you quitting Ek Se Badhkar Ek because you were scared of competition.
I think reality shows are all about controversies. I had a old ligament tear which I ignored. But the heavy-duty dancing and rehearsals aggravated my pain, which is why I quit. Why should I be scared of competition? If I was, I wouldn’t have participated.
