After a long gap during which a shoulder injury confined him to complete bed rest, actor Manoj Bajpai is now back with 'Jail',by Madhur Bhandarakar,a film, which he says reflects the dark side of society. "Imagine the life of a person who goes to jail and the life of everyone associated with him changes overnight. What they have to endure is the story of the film. And I think Madhur has shown the life of a jail in the best possible manner," says Bajpai. The actor, known for his intense and unconventional roles, got injured while shooting for a Telugu film in Hyderabad. "They were the most frustrating days of my life. I took to yoga and meditation for mental peace. And then one day Madhur came to me with this role, the character I was waiting for," says the two time National Award winner. Bajpai has not been included much in the promotional campaign of the film. When asked about the possible reasons,he says,"Its not that the director wanted me to be projected as a surprise package. As the story lies on the life of the protagonist, played by Neil Nitin Mukesh,so the maximum footage has been given to him. We also did not want to increase people's expectations with my presence." The story of 'Jail' revolves around Parag Dixit (Neil Nitin Mukesh),who has everything in life - a good job,a pretty girlfriend and a beautiful house. Parag's world turns upside-down when he finds himself inside the four walls of a prison due to a series of unfortunate events around him. "My role is that of a narrator,a mentor. It's a very silent character who knows what life is all about and act as a guardian to Parag Dixit. I did this film for Madhur, who's films are known as the mirror of the society. This is going to be his best film," says Bhiku Matre of "Satya" fame, who won accolades for his performance in offbeat films like "Kaun","Pinjar","Shool" and "Zubeidaa". Jail, which also stars Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse,is all set for release on November 6. Bajpai had accompanied Neil Nitin Mukesh to Tihar jail earlier this week to celebrate Diwali with the inmates. Neil also sang one of his grandfather Mukesh's popular songs for the prisoners. The film directed by three time National Award winning director Bhandarkar, had grabbed headlines when it was revealed that Neil had stripped naked for one of its scenes. Having seen both upside and downside of stardom, the actor is not perturbed with the kind of roles he is getting of late. "I am getting appreciation for my roles. Many people complimented me for my comic role in 'Acid Factory'. The film did not do well due to lack of promotion. Now apart from 'Jail',I am doing Prakash Jha's 'Rajneeti'," he says.
