Kareena Kapoor on kisses, bikinis, catfights and love—past and present
Let’s talk about your forthcoming film, Kambakkht Ishq. Do you think love is like that?
The word kambakkht can be interpreted in many ways. It can be an expression of pain, or desperation or exasperation. In the film, it's used in a more fun manner. For a passionate girl like me, love is intense and deep. I don’t take it lightly. Fun is an important aspect of love but it’s the intensity that stands the test of time.
What did you and Sylvester Stallone talk about while shooting for the film?
He was very curious about India and asked questions about our different cuisines and culture. He wanted to know about our film industry and how we make so many movies every year. He was keen to see my films. I was supposed to give him the DVD of Jab We Met but I didn’t have time. I'll do that soon though.
Since he has so many tattoos, he was connecting with Saif on that level. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that one day I’d be acting with Sylvester Stallone. Young guys have grown up on his films, his Rocky posters were on walls everywhere. Akshay, a huge Sly fan, was very excited to do action scenes with him.
You and Akshay have worked in seven films. What is the secret of your chemistry?
Though we’ve worked in many films, our chemistry will really come across only in Kambakkht Ishq. Akshay and I have great history; he gave his first shot as an actor in front of me for Deedar where he was paired with Lolo.
I was in my pigtails then. Akshay is a part of my family and I love him intensely. We’re comfortable with each other which worked well in this film where we are constantly fighting with each other.
