Multi-faceted Farhan Akhtar, who has tried his hands at filmmaking, acting and singing, is happy to explore various facets of his creativity but he has ruled out the possibility of directing himself in a movie.

Farhan, who started his Bollywood journey as a filmmaker with his coming-of-age movie 'Dil Chahta Hai' where he directed Aamir Khan and Saif Ali Khan, is currently enjoying his stint as an actor and singer post the success of 'Rock On!".

"I enjoy doing what I do but I will not direct myself in a movie. I am an average singer who just likes doing it. I have been fortunate enough to sing songs but I don't qualify as a singer. I don't want to be identified as anyone and want to be remembered the way you want it," Farhan said.

The 35-year-old actor will next be seen in 'Karthik Calling Karthik' opposite Deepika Padukone.

"You'll sympathise with my character in the movie as he has a very low-self esteem and gets bullied at work. Then there is this mysterious phone call from a person who says he is helping him out. It's a love story which turns into a thriller," says Farhan.

The young filmmaker, who has directed Hrithik Roshan in 'Lakshya' and Shah Rukh Khan in the remake of 'Don' since his debut in 2001, feels that Indian cinema has come up a long way in recent times.

"I feel Indian cinema is evolving. What you call newstream today will be mainstream tomorrow. Audience have come out to support these films and I believe there is space for everyone to exist," Farhan says.
