If Parliament rejects Lokpal Bill,we will accept decision

Anna Hazare said that Parliament was supreme and he would accept its decision.

In an apparent softening of stand,Anna Hazare said on Sunday that Parliament was supreme and he would accept its decision if it rejects the Lokpal Bill.

We will have to accept it. We believe in democracy, Hazare said in reply to a question on what would be his stand if Parliament rejected the Lokpal Bill drafted jointly by the government and representatives of the civil society.

On the August 15 deadline for passage of the Bill,he said: There can be some flexibility once we are convinced that the Bill is on the right track. However,he felt that it could be possible for Parliament to take a decision on the Bill within a month.

Replying to another question at an informal interaction with a group of journalists on Sunday,Hazare agreed that his method of agitation could be called terrorism of principles but added that it has an element of public welfare in it.

The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay the Waqf (Amendment) Act, 2025, provision requiring registration of Waqf by user, but paused the clause that states a person must be a practitioner of Islam for five years to create a Waqf until state governments frame relevant rules.
