The scheme is being run by the Department of Social Welfare, Chandigarh Administration and it will cover more than 1,100 beneficiaries. For the month of February benefits amounting to Rs 15 lakh are being disbursed.
In order to provide financial support to pregnant and lactating mothers who require greater nutritional support, access to health care services, enhanced food and nutrient intake, family care, skilled counseling support and a hygienic environment, the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India had started IGMSY.
