IIFA 2013: Barfi! leads with 13 nominations

The film,a poignant love story between a deaf and mute boy and an autistic girl,is pitted against English Vinglish,Gangs of Wasseypur-1,Kahaani,Paan Singh Tomar,Talaash and Vicky Donor. The Ayushman Khurana-Yami Gautam comedy,based on the unusual subject of sperm donation,has garnered nine nominations.

Ranbir Kapoor will be competing with Hrithik Agneepath,Shah Rukh Jab Tak Hai Jaan,Manoj Bajpayee ‘Gangs of

Wasseypur-1’,Irrfan Khan ‘Paan Singh Tomar’ and Ayushmaan in

the performance in a leading role category.

The Best Actress IIFA category is equally competitive with Sridevi English Vinglish,Vidya Balan Kahaani,Kareena Kapoor Heroine,Priyanka Barfi!,Deepika Padukone Cocktail and Huma Qureshi Gangs of Wasseypur battling it out.

Best Director list has Anurag Basu Barfi!,Anurag Kashyap Gangs of Wasseypur-1,Sujoy Ghosh Kahaani,Tigmanshu Dhulia Paan Singh Tomar and Sircar Vicky Donor vie for the best director category.

While Ranbir is nominated in the best actor category,his father,actor Rishi Kapoor,has earned a nod in the Best Negative role category for his villanious turn in Agneepath.

The senior Kapoor is competing with co-star Sanjay Dutt,Tigmanshu Dhulia Gangs of Wasseypur-1,Saswata Chatterjee aka Bob Biswas of Kahaani and Bipasha Basu in Raaz 3.

The best comedy actor list is led by Abhishek Bachchan for Bol Bachchan,Boman Irani Cocktail,Chunky Pandey Housefull 2,Paresh Rawal OMG-Oh My God and Annu Kapoor for Vicky Donor.

OMG dominates the supporting list with both Akshay Kumar and Mithun Chakraborty earning a nod each. Saurabh Shukla is also there ‘Barfi!’ while Nawazuddin Siddiqui is nominated twice for his brilliant turns in GoW-1 and Talaash. Annu Kapoor is in the supporting list too.

Diana Penty Cocktail,Reema Sen Gangs of Wasseypur-1,Divya Dutta Heroine,Jacqueline Fernandes Housefull 2,Anushka Sharma Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Dolly Ahluwalia Vicky Donor vie for IIFA in the best supporting female category.

Pritam has bagged two nominations in the music direction for his work in Barfi! and Cocktail along with AR Rahman Jab Tak Hai Jaan,Ajay-Atul Agneepath and Sneha Khanwalkar Gangs of Wasseypur-1.

Best Playback Singer list has Mika Singh for Pungi (Agent Vinod),Sonu Nigam for Abhi Mujh Mein Kahi and Ajay Gogavale for Deva Shree Ganesha (Agneepath),Mohit Chauhan for Main Kya Karoon and Aashiyan (Barfi!) and Ayushmann

Khurrana for Paani Da Rang (Vicky Donor).

In the female category for Best Playback Singer Female,Shreya Ghoshal has earned herself two nominations for the songs Chikni Chameli (Agneepath) and Ashiyan (Barfi!),along with Rekha Bhardwaj for Phir Le Aya Dil (Barfi!),Kavita Seth for Tumhi Ho Bandhu (Cocktail) and Shalmali Kholgade for Pareshan (Ishqzaade).
