Illicit liquor kills 16 in dry state

At least 16 people are reported dead in the Majoor Gam area of the city after consuming illicit country-made liquor,locally known as lattha,while 19 more have been hospitalised. With the condition of a few of them reportedly serious,authorities fear the death toll could rise.

Ironically,amongst the dead is Arvind Solanki,the person suspected to be the supplier of the alcohol. The police had to resort to lathicharge and tear gas to disperse a mob which took to the streets alleging that the government and police failed to crack down on illegal liquor dens. Irate residents roughed up police personnel and pelted stones on police vans.
