  • Australian opener Shaun Marsh, who got a recall into the Australian squad after a long injury layoff, is confident of a triumphant return to cricket against India in the seven-match ODI series starting Sunday. “It’s been tough being away from international cricket but I have recovered. I’m looking forward to putting up a good show with the bat,” said the left-hander on Thursday.

Marsh has been a keen participant in the practice sessions and is looking to get back in the groove. “I’m ready to bat wherever my team wants me to. But I know Tim Paine and Shane Watson have been doing well so it’s going to be tough finding a place,” said the 26-year-old. Marsh has been putting a lot more emphasis on facing spin during the net sessions. “We are playing India in India and they have some world-class spinners. One needs to be prepared to face them,” said the son of former Aussie opener Geoff Marsh.

Marsh, who was the highest run-scorer when he played for Kings XI Punjab during the first season of the IPL, hopes the experience he had during the Twenty20 tournament will come in handy. “It’s a nice feeling to have a decent knowledge of conditions and grounds here. I’m sure that will keep me in good stead,” said Marsh.

    ‘Yuvraj is a dangerous player’

Has he passed on any inside information to his bowlers about how to tackle Yuvraj Singh? “Yuvi is a dangerous player and we are good friends. But when we’re on opposite sides, things change. I’m sure my bowlers will work out how to deal with him,” said Marsh.
