  • A local court today created history by recording the entire prosecution evidence of a murder case in a single day. The charges against the accused were framed in the case on June 2, and on the first date of hearing, 12 witnesses were examined. The case is now slated for final arguments on July 8 in the court of additional district and sessions judge Raj Rahul Garg.

In February this year, a 35-year-old man had allegedly sodomised a six-year-old boy before slitting his throat at a secluded place in the overgrown area of Sector 48. The accused, Pappu Paswan, admitted to his crime and the police had recovered the body following his disclosure.

The accused was a distant relative of the victim, Achhe Lal of Sector 52, and lived in the same vicinity along with his wife and two daughters.

Pappu took the boy to a secluded place and tied his hands and legs with a nylon string before slitting his throat. He sodomised the child, following which the boy fell unconscious. “Today was the first date of hearing since the court framed charges against the accused and the entire prosecution evidence was recorded. We produced 12 witnesses before the court,” said public prosecutor Manu Kakkar.
