All those who want to buy houses meant for the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) by the Lucknow Development Authority and the Ansal Housing and Construction Limited in Ashiana Colony, beware. For, both are offering the same houses.
On August 10, the Ansals opened registration for 1,233 houses for the EWS in Sector-M1 of Ashiana on Kanpur Road. On August 24, the LDA opened registration for over 10,000 houses for EWS and Low Income Group under its 'Apna Ghar' housing scheme.
Among these are 1,233 houses in Sector-M1 of Ashiana, which the Ansals want to build.
The Ansals had taken license from the LDA in 1987 to develop the Ashiana Colony on 450 acres of land on Kanpur Road. The LDA had issued the license with the condition that the Ansals develop EWS houses on a part of land.
After the Ansals invited applications for EWS houses, the LDA published a notice last week in newspapers stating that it cannot sell these EWS houses and that it was contrary to the conditions of the license agreement.
The Officer on Special Duty, LDA, Rahul Singh, said: “The LDA has also served a notice to the Ansals for opening registration for these EWS houses. The allotment has to be done by the LDA.” The opening of registration for the same houses by both the LDA and the Ansals will create confusion among applicants, he said.
The Ansals have their own claim.
“As per the license agreement, the LDA had to sell the houses. But on February 27, the LDA vice-chairman permitted Ansals to develop 1,233 EWS houses and allot these,” said RS Pandey, Chief Residential Manager, Ansal Housing and Construction Limited.
