  • Vij to lead BJP in Haryana Assembly
    Ambala:
    BJP MLA from Ambala Cantonment Anil Vij was elected the Leader of Opposition in the Haryana Assembly at a meeting of the party MLAs held at Delhi on Friday. The meeting was chaired by BJP general secretary and Haryana Affairs in charge Vijay Goel. Three-time MLA, Vij was elected to from Ambala Cantonment constituency defeating former Congress Minister Nirmal Singh.

    BSNL 3G services launched in Patiala
    PATIALA:
    P K Paliwal, Chief General Manager Telecom,Punjab, on Saturday said that Rs 168 crore would be spent in Punjab for the development of 3G infrastructure. He was addressing a press conference soon after the launch of long-awaited and much talked about 3G services of BSNL in the Patiala district. Paliwal said it was a privilege that Patiala was amongst the selected cities in the country which have been chosen for launching the service in the first phase. He said Sangrur, Moga, Mukatsar, Faridkot and Ferozepur will be covered in second phase.

    Annual function held at DAV School
    Ambala:
    Major R N Kapur DAV Public School organised its silver jubilee and annual prize distribution function at Raina Auditorium Kharga Ambala Cantonment on Saturday. The function was presided over by Rani Sharma chairperson, Indian Council for Social Welfare Department at Chandigarh. School principal Rekha Verma presented the annual report highlighting the achievements of the school.

    PATIALA: The National Theatre Arts Society (NTAS) of Patiala felicitated Vijay Chopra, Editor-In-Chief of Hind Samachar Group of Newspapers and chairman of Press Trust of India at the All India Pingla Ashram on Saturday. Chopra was presented the Gem of India-Bhagat Munshi Ram Award of Honour, a memento, shawl, bouquets and gifts for his outstanding contribution to journalism and humanity. Presiding over the function, former Punjab Finance Minister Lal Singh and NTAS director Pran Sabharwal lauded Chopra’s efforts. Chopra, meanwhile, assured help for the Pingla Ashram and promotion of theatre and social activities of NTAS in the state.
