Implement new pay scales for private colleges: PCCTU
Taking a serious note of the indifferent attitude of the managements of privately managed aided and unaided colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh, the members of the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers’ Union (PCCTU ) wore black badges as a mark of protest. Professor Vinay Sofat, Finance secretary of the Centre, said, “These managements are not implementing the new pay scales for teachers of these colleges in spite of the fact that the Punjab Government has issued notification in this regard on September 2, 2009 which has already been approved by the UGC and MHRD through notification on December 31, 2008. The Punjab Government has issued instructions to pay salary for August 2009 in cash with new pay scales. The government college teachers are already getting it while the teachers of privately managed aided and unaided colleges of Punjab and Chandigarh are deprived of this, which is a great violation of the orders of the government.”
World Stroke Day observed
Stroke is a major cause of long term disabilities and premature death and it occurs when a vessel that brings blood to the brain bursts or is clogged by a blood clot.
