In Delhi to build bridges,BSY gets earful from Swaraj

Barely a week after the BJP put on hold its decision to show him the door,Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa landed here on Wednesday,essentially to build bridges with detractors in the central leadership but instead found himself at the receiving end of their ire once again.

While Yeddyurappa wanted to connect with the central leaders,it is learnt that he had to face some grilling from the senior leaders,especially Sushma Swaraj,over a report published in a Bangalore daily that said he had made some adverse remarks about her and Ananth Kumar to the central leaders during the standoff and that led him to earning a reprieve.

Sources close to the Chief Minister said Swaraj did some tough talking with the Chief Minister. They said the Leader of the Opposition bluntly told Yeddyurappa that the news item was planted by his camp to defame her and sought an explanation from him. The courtesy call that the Chief Minister planned went awry after the rebuke.

He also met L K Advani,Rajnath Singh and Murli Manohar Joshi. But having found himself in a spot once again,he was forced to issue a statement,distancing himself from the report before wrapping up his brief visit to the Capital.

I totally deny and disassociate myself from the references made to Sushma Swaraj and my central leaders. I have highest regard and respect for Swaraj and I never mean any such matters and will never think so in the worst of my dream, he said. He even promised to hold an inquiry into the origin of the news.

The CM,who had put up an aggressive face in the morning,talking about plans to take back the land which he said was grabbed by the Deve Gowda family in Hassan and distributing those among the poor,was on the backfoot by the evening.

The police said that Kumar, a resident of Turbhe MIDC in Navi Mumbai, was driving his concrete mixer truck when it collided with an SUV.
