In an embarrassing goof-up for the Himachal Pradesh Government, its official diary for year 2009 shows Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) as being outside the countrys boundaries.
Indias map published on the turn-page of the diarys cover shows the network of Indias National Highways where PoK,printed in a different shade, isnt a part of India.
A dotted line does indicate the authentic outline of the Indias boundary but a computer generated shade alters the original image.
Even Aksai Chin is wrongly printed.
This is a mistake committed inadvertently while printing the diary. Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal on Monday morning told the concerned officers to look into the lapse and submit a report in this regard, a senior official told The Indian Express on Monday.
The Chief Minister, who returned to the Capital on Sunday night after his winter move to Dharamsala and after attending BJPs Nagpur conclave, has been apprised of the issue. He is quite upset about it, a CMs aide said.
The diary is printed every year and the printing order runs into several thousands for distribution among ministers,MLAs,mediapersons (both within and outside state),bureaucrats and other government officials.
Media reports say that Chief Secretary Asha Swaroop has taken up the issue with the department of printing and stationery and sought a report from them. Sources said the diaries were printed at a private printing press in Chandigarh and hundreds of copies have already been distributed.
