In jail,Neera Yadav spends time reading Discovery of India

Former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Neera Yadav is spending her time at the Dasna Jail reading books,and giving her company at this Ghaziabad prison are petty criminals.

Former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Neera Yadav is spending her time at the Dasna Jail reading books,and giving her company at this Ghaziabad prison are petty criminals. The 62-year-old former IAS officer was lodged in a general women barrack after a special CBI court sentenced her to a four-year imprisonment.

Viresh Raj Sharma,jail superintendent Dasna prison,said Yadav has asked for a list of books available in the prison library. “She has taken Discovery of India,which was made available to her. She had spent her day reading those books in the general barrack,” added Sharma.

Along with Yadav are lodged 60 petty criminals who are serving their prison term in cases like dowry and thefts.

Yadav’s meals are simple. She had potato and turnip vegetable for lunch and dal and chappati for dinner along with other inmates. The only thing she demanded is tea. “It seems she is very fond of tea as it is the one thing she kept asking for,” said Sharma.

Responding to queries related to her health,Sharma said Yadav had shown her medicine prescriptions to the doctor and medicines were made available to her on Tuesday. Meanwhile,Ashok Chaturvedi,owner of Flex industry,had asked for fresh pair of clothes which were made available to him on Wednesday.

The jail superintendent said that both the convicts are healthy.
