"It will be an honorary post with no salary. They will have a complete say in designing the course curriculum according to the needs of the industry and also take administrative decisions for the betterment of the ITIs," he added.
Since ITIs are spread across the state, the industrial house to which the chairman belongs, should be located within the district or a 100-km radius in the adjoining district.
The department has individually written to Maruti, Toyota, Punj Llyod, Tata Motors, Avon, Hero and some other major business houses to occupy these key posts. The last date for receiving the proposals is January 24. These will be evaluated by a departmental committee.
