Mixers, grinders and even lifts started moving in reverse direction
After a 12-hour long power cut, which gave them harrowing time on Tuesday, the residents and officers-goers of MG Road woke up to a rude shock on Wednesday morning as all the lifts and water pump motors in their buildings started running in the reverse mode.
"When power came early in the morning, the lifts started working in a reversed order. Even the water pump motors started running in a reversed phase. We were amazed and called up the MSEB officials, they said it was a problem of the building and the MSEB had nothing to do about it," said C.S. Dwivedi, society manager, Wonderland Building.
Certain buildings on MG Road also reported to have such amusing occurrences.
Alfred Rayappan, of Pasteur Bakery said, "when we switched on the grinders and mixers in the morning, they began to spin in the opposite direction, which was amusing to see. However, in order to avoid any damage to the motors we switched them off. Now we are waiting for the electricity department to rectify the problem."
Amit Joshi, Manager, Leather Lounge said, "After the power came, we tried starting the motor pump, which began running in the reverse direction. The MSEB officials said the phase had been reversed. Initially they said the problem was not from their side, however, later on when they promised to look into the matter."
The primary buildings, which were affected were, Wonderland, Kalpataru building, and the buildings housing hotels, like Tej Residency and Leather.
