  • When Yasin Malik landed at the Srinagar Airport from Pakistan, he found hundreds of people waiting at the airport. But they were not there for him but for Bhabhi, Malik’s Pakistani wife Mushaal Malik.

JKLF chief Malik and his bride Mushaal, who got married in Pakistan on August 22, were welcomed at the Srinagar airport by hundreds of people.

The couple were taken to Malik’s Maisuma home in a procession. Supporters shou-ted slogans in favour of Azadi, Pakistan and the Bhabhi in the same breath. “Bhabhi ayee, Bhabhi ayee,” they shouted.

As the couple—Malik wearing an orange kurta and Mushaal dressed in a lehanga —arrived at Maisuma, women greeted them with traditional wedding songs and garlands.

When asked why he married a Pakistani girl. “I never had this thing (marrying Mushaal) in my mind. What can you do about fate?”

Malik met Mushaal, a painter studying in London, during one of his trips to Pakistan. The wedding was delayed twice as Malik had to go to jail, first for launching an anti-poll rally and then for trying to visit Shopian .
