In the Rink

She is arguably one of the leading female DJs of India, and was in the city last evening to perform at the Blue Blazer lounge, Sector 26. "I am here to make the people of Chandigarh groove to Bollywood numbers that I have rapped in, and also to some special numbers from my forthcoming album," said Mumbai-based DJ Rink, who has been in the profession for over seven years now. Ranked number three on the DJ chart in the Bollywood music category and number 22 in all-India rating, Rink is also a sound engineer, remixer and producer. Her first album Lady Architect released in 2008 and was a hit, and so was the second, a Bollywood remix album called Desi Diva Dj Rink that released in 2011.

"DJ-ing and music is a passion, and I learnt its ropes from DJ Joe Azerado," said Rink. From house, electronic, hip hop and bhangra to Bollywood commercials and world music, Rink loves to experiment with all genres. She is now working on another album, to be launched in August this year, which, she says, is not based on remixes.
