Sachin

We have to go back and see the final years of Gavaskar to really compare this pathetic show by the current seniors with the real greats. Gavaskar still continued to open the innings facing the mighty pace batteries from windies, aussie, Pak etc.. without a helmet and making valuable contribution even in the last test, if i remember, it was against pakistan in Bangalore. In one days it was a treat to see Sunny and srikanth competing with each other with class and guts. They were enjoying the game and were never seen under pressure.Gone are those days and i hope Sachin will retire if not at the peak, but atleast before being asked to.
Obsession!!!
by Stanley on 2008-10-14 09:52:06.687529+05:30
It's a pity that we are obsessed about individual records and achievements when cricket is a team game and team effort and achievement tanscends individual goals and objectives. India will never be Numero Uno in cricket unless we renounce our zonal nepotism in team selection and adopt professioalism for the larger good. In the meantime let's contine reiterating ourselves of our individual triumphs and feats at the cost of the team.
Sachin's Milestone
by AN on 2008-10-14 09:05:01.15391+05:30
What I dont appreciate is that we treat Sachin's inability to treach the 12,000 runs milestone bigger than the fact that we drew the Test. The players play for the country first and then for themselves. I admire Sachin a lot, but in all earnesty, I feel that after he reaches the milestone, the selectors should give him the VRS too (in fact to all the Seniors).
Sachin short fall of Lara mark
by Ignatius Dias on 2008-10-13 18:35:10.573999+05:30
The Fab five should be dropped if you want any positive cricket. They are playing for survival. Just see Dhoni's performance with all the youngsters. He won in Australia, Sri Lanka (no other captain has achieved this feat before) and the T20 world cup.

just go and check the records book - for dhoni's century in test cricket and one day cricket as well.. u will understand - equally check the records of ricky ponting..
Wins and centuries
by Dinesh on 2008-10-14 22:06:19.918924+05:30
Krishnan, and when you do this, you will find that Dhoni has won more matches than the century he has made. But this you will not find in sachin or any pathetic fives records. It is because dhoni treats cricket as team game and not for individual records at the cost of team. Did not you watch in Sri lanka where Dhoni curbed his stroke making tendencies to stay on the pitch and win the matches for India. That is why even if he has not made many centuries like Sachin but has many cups to show which your dus hazarees do not have. He could win t20 without any of dus hazaris. Dhoni won Srilanka (which no captain has done) without any of the dus hazarees and even without sehwag. That is called a winner who makes a team to win. Personal centuries and runs do not count much if you can make your team to win.

India won the ODI's against Aussies in Australia mainly because of Tendulkar and young indian bowlers, especially Praveen Kumar.
sachin falls short ofLara mark

How come there is no derogatory remarks about Dada in this issue. That seems to be your expertise since the days of Greg Chappell!! Keep up the good work!
Sachin fails to break Lara's record
by D M VAISHNAV on 2008-10-13 15:23:07.726387+05:30
He now needs 15 runs to break Lara's total. I think he should be able to break it in next 15 test matches.
Sachin

I fully agree with you. Till then fools will cheer and knowledgeable will rue his presence. His pathetic disply is transgressing.
It does not matter
by Bharatiya on 2008-10-13 19:14:33.721315+05:30
You just don't get it. It doesn't matter if he takes 15 matches or rest of his career. He does not need to prove anything.
If so...
by Query on 2008-10-13 20:34:14.409925+05:30
If he does not have to prove anything - he may as well retire and let somebody else make runs and WIN the match - rather than just play for records.
Why so negative?
by Vidya on 2008-10-13 18:27:25.994451+05:30
Why such pessimism? Sachin is one of the best sports persons in India. He deserves our support, not sarcasm.
Why running after record?
by test on 2008-10-13 18:24:03.352276+05:30
Why are you so much worried about his record when he's playing for the team and saving it from the grave... Cheer up man we could draw the match on the placid track on 4th innings...
What record?
by Satish Haldankar on 2008-10-13 17:02:15.527447+05:30
One should also count the number of test matches/innings taken to reach that figure. In that respect, between the two, lara would come up on tops.
What about one day cricket?
by Bharatiya on 2008-10-14 00:49:11.77067+05:30
No body has claimed Sachin is the best ever test player. The debate is not whether Lara is better or Sachin, in Test cricket. Combine his all cricket records and then think for a moment if anyone has achieved the height Sachin has achieved.
India has no chance
by proud Aussie on 2008-10-13 10:23:51.736949+05:30
India are going to lose they have no hope 2 / 24 after being set a target of 299 with 89 overs to reach the target. You would think any half decent side (aka not India) would waltz through and reach the score. India you have let your selves down again you are nothing in world cricket except rich bully boys who cant handle losing. I hope you lose the series in a white wash.

Only arrogance is left with Aussies now! Even your sledging does not win matches for you. Very soon, you will be finding it difficult to win matches against Bangladesh. By the way, is there any "good" cricketer left in your team still? I do not think anyone!
Aus has no chnace
by Jayesh Naik on 2008-10-13 18:52:38.99836+05:30
The match was ended in a draw When the wicket was strongly in the favor of bowlers. So the credit goes to Indian team not aussies for our great efforts. The whole world knows how Aussies sledge and cry when they are closer to lose a match. My friend we are going to win the series. just wait and watch. By a proud Indian.

Maybe, you must hasten to Ayer's Rock Down Under and begin an exercise in writing a diary on wrong predictions there.

weel the match has ended in a draw and one thing is for sure that if aussie can't bowl out india in 83 overs then they don't deserve to play as we are jus "rich bully boys who cant handle losing". i am sure you would be kicking and asking urselve as to why did u even open ur mounth....lol.

You may be a proud Aussie, but that does not preclude the fact that you are a boor as displayed by the language you use. It is possible that India loses the match. But, be certain Indians will not take recourse to the Umpires to save/win the match as the cry cry Aussie babies did when India played in Australia. Grow up you so called proud Aussie
