India in last four after 8-1 win over Canada

  • The Indian women’s team stormed into the semi-finals of the Women’s Champions Challenge hockey tournament after Ritu Rani’s hat-trick fashioned their facile 8-1 win against Canada on Monday. India had outplayed Belgium 5-3 in their tournament opener on Sunday. Ritu (54th, 63rd and 70th minutes) starred with three goals, including two from penalty corners. Rani Rampal (57th, 61st) sounded the board twice, one from a penalty stroke, while Deepika Thakur (6th), Surinder Kaur (29th) and Mamta Kharab (67th) chipped in with one goal each.
