  • China on Monday maintained a studied silence over Dalai Lama's ongoing visit to Arunachal Pradesh, but a state-run newspaper said he made the trip under pressure from India.

"India may make use of the Dalai Lama to solve the decade-long territorial conflict by encouraging his visit to southern Tibet (Arunachal Pradesh)," the official Global Times newspaper quoted a Chinese analyst as saying.

"The Dalai Lama went to southern Tibet at this critical moment probably because of pressure from India," Hu Shisheng, a researcher of Southern Asian studies at the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations, was quoted as saying by the sister publication of the ruling Communist Party's mouthpiece, People's Daily.

"By doing so, he can please the country that has hosted him for years," Hu said.

China has not officially reacted to the Dalai Lama's current visit to Arunachal Pradesh on which Beijing has staked claim as its territory.

The appearance and activities of the Dalai Lama in southern Tibet may foment anti-China sentiment among people living in the region, Hu said.

"When the conflict gets sharper and sharper, the Chinese government will have to face it and solve it in a way India has designed," Hu added.

The report noted that during his visit to the Tawang monastery yesterday, the Dalai Lama had "spoke out against China."

Always be preparedBy: wiseone | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward "When the conflict gets sharper and sharper, the Chinese government will have to face it and solve it in a way India has designed," Hu added. Very provocative statement. War will not benefit India or China. India should upgrade its military technology and hardware, including better clothing and equipment for the solgier. It is better that the army is smaller , but better trained and effective.China should not assume India is going to be a pushover.
Arunachal Predesh.By: Robert Mathew | 12-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward India nevertheless is on an appeasing game by succumbing to China's pressure and curbed the presence of the media in Arunachal Predesh. Will our leadership or any other prominent indians stop visiting the state, on the grounds of China's protest. If China shows Kashmier as a seperate entity in their maps, why not India show Taiwan as a seperate country with measures to open up a Tawain mission in India? Is india under pressure to propitiate China the agnry dragon that waits for an oppotunity to gobble up the state. India is under compulsion to fulfill its obligation to Tibet. Failure to seriously consider the option, will jeoparadise the countries to whom India has assured security. Sri Lanka is a lost cause due to foreign policy blunders. Under such circumstances, India's ambition to be a global power will remain a distant dream or a mirrage in the wilderness. India needs to double up its effort similar to Germany prior to the second world war as India does not have friends.

Dalai Lama's visit to ArunachalBy: Yangdak | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Infact, China has fully provoked and created the outcome of this simple visit of Dalai Lama to Arunachal an international hot news and self defacing news. Dalai Lama has the right to answer what the Communist China has freely and blatantly said against him in the last few days running upto this visit. Its clear that India has nothing to do with this trip rather it was entirely on the request of the Buddhist followers of Tawang monastery. Now, it has become more clear why China was critizing Dalai Lama for creating sino-Indian conflict few days ago. The real anger and frustration is againist India's stand on the issue of border. China is going to repeat a big mistake of the past. India and Indians should be aware and get ready for any action in case of need.
Invite the Chinese....By: Nimrita | 10-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward China must be a great nation to acclaim a high position in history. But, we are seeing low grade politics from their end, in our viewpoint, once it comes to border or Dalai Lama (actually Tibet issue). They could perceive the same. We should invite some Chinese faculty and philosophers to enlighten us about the issues from their viewpoint. The statements from their media as published in our papers are quite myopic and narrow minded, and confusing the issue. World has changed quite a bit; and it should not be too difficult for Chinese to allow a public cross talk among those who possess the right sanity to discuss difficult issues. Are we going to invite... or waiting to be...:)
