  • India today lodged a protest with Pakistan over its so-called ‘Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self Governance Order, 2009’ and its move to construct the China-assisted Bunji Hydroelectric Project in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir.

This was conveyed to Pakistan’s Deputy High Commissioner Riffat Masood by senior MEA officials in New Delhi, and to the Pakistani foreign ministry by the Indian mission in Islamabad, sources said.

On the Gilgit-Baltistan order, the Ministry of External Affairs said: “Pakistan has for the past six decades denied basic democratic rights to the people in those parts of the state of Jammu and Kashmir under its illegal occupation. The entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India... The so-called order is yet another cosmetic exercise intended to camouflage Pakistan’s illegal occupation.”

The deal for the 7,000 MW Bunji hydroelectric project was reportedly signed during President Asif Ali Zardari’s visit to Beijing in August.

Indian Foreign PolicyBy: mak | 13-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Pakistan is in no position to grab any Indian Territory. Kashmir has cost India its competitive edge with China and Chinese think India will not in 100 years be anywhere near a threat to them. Infact they humiliate India every decade by sending troops to Indian lands and later walk back only saying they will come again. Kashmir will never be India's from its mind and heart, not for another 100 years. China exploits this situation both for India
MrBy: Abrozhit | 13-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward India must first of all legitimize the rights of its minorities and give them a fair go before pointing a finger at others in their effort to distract attention elsewhere.India is not a superpower and never will be as long as they suppress minorities and create tensions along religious devides. Actions speak louder than words, for India is what Turks were once. Wake-up India or the real powers from the north will engulf you one day!
If they can why cant we...By: Mukesh | 12-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward We need to fix our Foreign policy... which we have not done a bit since independence. Lessons can be learnt from our neighbours:1. Try to do Kashmir what China has done with Xianjing, Tibet.2. Try to do Pakistan as what China did to Taiwan.3. Try isolate and form a word order for Pakistan so as it isolate and alienate the country in the word.4. Get RAW activated again to create problems in Pakistan and some parts in china.5. Like China did help Pakistan for nuke and hyrod an everything, we should do for Taiwan, Japan and all the counteries to encircle china. with help of china pakistan is making more noise.6. Remove the section 302C for KAshmir and dilute the population to make more state people go there for busniess. dont give special status. We cannot tell the world kashimir has special status and proclaim it belongs to india.7. Dont lodge protests to UN for anything, just act and nullify all the acts of Pakistan and China..Stupid foreign policy of India is pre-independent..

Demographic changeBy: Ajaz | 13-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Mr.Mukesh is a idiot of 21ist century. He thinks all this will go without any revrbrations. Kashmiri's have never yeilded to any force so india force is no match. 6 decades of occupation and kashmiris are as reselient to it as they were ever before.
