There is a whole set of new equipment which we have thought of for the Para modernisation.'

Indian security forces are ready to face any challenge from Taliban, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor said on Friday, adding that asymmetric warfare where non-state actors post threats was a "matter of concern".

Kapoor said Special Forces were being modernised and equipped to deal with asymmetric and fourth generation warfare where non-state actors fight against conventional state machinery and employ innovative ways for carrying out strikes such as Mumbai terror attack.

"There is a whole set of new equipment which we have thought of for the Para (Special Forces) modernisation, especially in view of the fact that asymmetric and fourth generation warfare are a matter for concern," Gen Kapoor said this on the sidelines of the Parachute Regiment reunion in Agra.

Commenting on the spurt in activities of Taliban in Pakistan and Indian armed forces' preparedness to deal with the threat, he said, "I would like to assure the country that we are ready to face any challenge."

India ready to face threats from TalibanBy: john jacobs | 31-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward While it is the task falling on the para military forces to face down the threats from Taliban/Alquida terrorists, it would be far more reassuring to the nation to hear from the army chief as to how well he is prepared, equipped and ready to meet much greater threats looming over India fromm well organised and professional enemy national armies.
General DK should have joined bollywood insteadBy: Devji kumar | 31-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Its regreatable when high level public office figures speak in public out of arrogance, ego and short-sighted-ness. General DK has more than enough on their hands at present to deal with in the whole country than invite more unnecessary and dangerous mischief from across the border for the helpless common public to face, while the general lives a secure, well-protected and safe life. General DK should have joined bollywood instead because thats where all the brave speeches, fame, wealth and hitech-natak are made into masala movies for public consumption.

we should avoid double standardBy: kk | 31-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward I know we are ready to face any challenge from Taliban or any other threat.we as Indian should avoid to play double standard.when we face problem of Maoist in Bengal,Terrorism in Assam and Monipur, when they kill our policeman, they hijack train and we watch.we don't take action and we don't care because those terrorist are Hindu fundamentalist and govt says 'we will talk'.Baal Thackeray and his shiv Sena is terrorist organization.no one dare to take action against him. But when we see Kashmir our army kill innocent people. The reason is in India Muslim leadership is corrupt and govt take benefit of this.
