India's irritation at the reference to Indo-Pak ties in the joint communique issued by President Barack Obama and his Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao was apparent from an official statement issued on Wednesday making it clear that a third party role was not necessary.

Sticking to its stand that no "meaningful dialogue" can take place unless there was a terror-free environment, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson said, "The Government of India is committed to resolving all outstanding issues with Pakistan through a peaceful bilateral dialogue in accordance with the Simla Agreement.

"A third country role cannot be envisaged nor is it necessary. We also believe that a meaningful dialogue with Pakistan can take place only in an environment free from terror or the threat of terror."

The reaction came a day after both Obama and Hu voiced support for the improvement in Indo-Pak ties and their readiness to promote peace and stability in the region, listing the situation in South Asia among regional and global challenges.

The two countries "support the improvement and growth of relations between India and Pakistan," and are ready to "strengthen communication, dialogue and cooperation on issues related to South Asia and work together to promote peace, stability and development in that region," said the joint statement, issued at the conclusion of the talks between the two leaders.

obama buckledBy: gurmit singh | 20-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward US president, virtually knelt before the chinese establishment when he was disallowed from speaking uncensored speech. Nor Obama could exert on on matters on internation importance such as terror, global warming, climate change- rather diverted attention to indo-pak relationships for which he made china a monitor, much to the nagging of India which does not tolerate any outside interference in its internal affairs and has already made amply clear that relations with pak now a days are dependent upon the legitimacy of Pak taking action against the perpetrator of 26/11 carnage. No human rights issue pertaining to china came in talks. Whatever impression the world takes of this visit, here in India, it is talked that the talks on Indo-pak relationsships were redundant just to please chinda. This evidently gives clue that no authority over china was exerted by the president nor any reference could be made to the Iran going nuclear and not attuning to the call of america.
China , India and PakistanBy: Ven Sardi | 19-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Since Indira-Gandhi/Zulfi Bhutto's days it was agreed by both disputants that all outstanding issues, including Kashmir, will be sorted out on a bi-lateral basis. There is no scope for third part mediation. And to think of China as mediator! Next, we will be advised to have Pakistan as mediator in the Arunachal Pradesh issue with China. The British were no fools. They had Tibet as a buffer but we lost that advantage when we consented to China's hegemony over Tibet. What India lacks is 'practical, futuristic' approach to issues. Put your own house in order first.By: YD | 19-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward "China%u2019s dramatic rise along economic, military, diplomatic and commercial axes and the US dependence on China necessitates a robust US-China relationship. If that upsets India then Indians need to start putting their own economic, military, political and security houses in order rather than fretting about a growing US-China relationship" said someone. Remember, beggers attract only contempt not respect. What the world has seen in the last 62 years is rape of democracy, criminal MPs and MLAs, corruption which even African countries can not match, appeasement, reservations, Swiss bank accounts (to the tune of 1.5 trillion dollars), scandals, cringing, cowaring, illitracy, poverty, divisions, regional hatered. Will all this come to an end ? NO.
Fart-bag ObamaBy: Hero Vaz | 19-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward In China, Obama showed a loss of balance and even made an ass of himself, a bigger ass than MMS made of himself in Egypt. Obama is no more than a fart-bag, as has been proved quite a few times, but in China he excelled himself. The Chinks, of course, will be quick to smell the stench of the fart and quicker still to hold their noses and their mouths and tongues so as not to have a chance to interfere, in any way, with India or in Indo-Pak relations.
Racism will not help your cause ?By: Illini | 20-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward I am a Chinese American and have been reading news/comments here. I am quite disappointed in the huge display of racism against Chinese by many Indians. Is that what your people are exposed every day ? Hatred, insult, racism and immature.
Inability to resolve Kashmiri occupations is IncompetenceBy: JP | 19-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward If you allow a third person to say whatever he feels like, he will. If government of India is not able to represent Indians to end Pakistani and Chinese Occupations, it is gross failure of government. Lecturing Indians only demoralizes patriotic people like us. We all remember that Terrorists came from heaven, yet war was not an option from recent days. We remember Nehru's incompetence of "Not even grass grows in Aksai Chin!!" It is useless to stop Chinese and American stop talking and pakistanis celebrating such talks. If the government means some business for Indians, us the people; it must stop dividing people on caste, tribe, religion and other manufactured backwardness. Every time dignity and moral of being Indian is compromised by elected governments of Congress and BJP. It is failure of political parties and lack of willpower to execute business of Indians, which reduces us to dumbocrazy. Talks cannot resolve everything. Ahinsa is not a substitute for cowardice. Jai hind.
