India, Japan, Germany and Brazil are strong contenders for permanent Security Council seats in case of an expansion.

During the first round, the African Group, like most other delegations, had highlighted their preference for an expansion in both permanent and non-permanent categories.

They had also reiterated other demands of the Ezulwini consensus, including the right of veto for new permanent members, Puri said.

UNSCBy: Vaid S C K | 28-May-2009 Reply | Forward India has very rightly exposed hidden motive of 'small countries' in foiling expansion of UNSC. There seems to be strange contrast when India pleads before the world leaders to review the structure of UNSC and agree for expansion as exisitng composition of UNSC is outdated. Why the same logic does not inspire congress leaders to review the entire constitution of India where small parties, in particular, have totally derailed the governance and being abused day in and day out by political parties and bureaucrats. Specially, this does not serve the interest of congress who believes in dynasty rule only.
