  • India will open their 2011 cricket World Cup campaign against Bangladesh in Dhaka on February 19, while the Indian leg of the tournament starts the next day, when New Zealand take on Kenya in Chennai.

The fixtures were announced at an ICC event in Mumbai on Monday.

Pakistan, who lost their share of World Cup matches due to the security situation in the country, are playing all six of their group matches in Sri Lanka, which is hosting a total of 12 games.

Grouped with South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh, Ireland and the Netherlands in pool B, India will host 29 matches of the event, including a semi-final, in Mohali, and the final in Mumbai. Sri Lanka will host 12 matches and will play Canada in their opener on February 20, while Bangladesh will play host for eight matches, including two quarter-finals. “With plenty of high-quality matches played since the Champions Trophy, I’m convinced that the 2011 World Cup will further cement the status of ODIs,” ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said.
