  • Ajmal Kasab
Ajmal Kasab is the lone surviving terrorist of the Mumbai terror attacks and is undergoing trial.

Statements of key witnesses in the 26/11 case in an anti-terror court here will be forwarded by India to Pakistan to be used as evidence in the trial there, special public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam said here on SUNDAY.

The court has allowed the prosecution's plea for certified copies of the statements and within a day or two they will be forwarded to Pakistan through diplomatic channels, Nikam said.

The statement of witnesses, includes the deposition of a magistrate before whom the lone captured Pakistani gunman Mohammad Ajmal Kasab had given a voluntary confession of his alleged involvement in the November 26 attacks here.

Besides, the statements would also include deposition of foreign nationals and seizures of some articles recovered from terror sites such as Hotels Taj and Oberoi and Nariman House, Nikam said.

The magistrate's statement is considered significant as she told the trial court that Kasab had disclosed before her that the conspiracy was hatched in Pakistan by Lashkar-e-Taiba operatives including alleged mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Laqvi, who is facing trial in a Pakistan court.

The statements would also cover deposition of FBI officers who told the trial court that mobile phones recovered from terror sites were used (by terrorists) to communicate with their Pakistani handlers during the terror siege.

The officers of a mobile company from abroad had also deposed in the court here through video conference saying that the mobile phones (used by terrorists) were exported from Chine to Pakistan.

Evidence about articles seized from terrorists such as "rubber boat" and food items bearing labels "Made in Pakistan" will also be forwarded to the neighbouring country to prove that the conspiracy was hatched from their soil and that terrorists had come to India from Pakistan, Nikam said.

Enough evidence to convince Interpol, and you need send more?By: Devasahayam | 20-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Pakistan isn't going to act against itself (Hafiz Saeed IS the embodiment of its policy) so sending evidence to that goonda-state is futile!
Bombaywalas deserve whatever coming to themBy: Boby Mehta | 19-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward "India to send evidence in 26/11 case to Pak", what else India was sending to Pakistan since 26/11 ? By bringing Congress back I think people of Bombay (Raj Thakeray, note the word, Bombay) deserve whatever coming to them.
Ghazani lives!By: Sajjan Pandit | 19-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward All this is getting in to a humbug situation. A congressi antakshari..? Senseles, the way these people are appealing to a dead heart adversary. Reminds me of Ghazani and the Northern states of an erstwhile era. When he conquered, they will plead and catch his feet; but when He was captured, he would plead and get away. That drama also, lasted for a considerable time. Now, the situation is of a much more minuscule proportion, still one can not miss the similarities.
26/11By: Mahesh | 19-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Why blame Pakistan? India's performance as regards curbing the terrorism is shamelessly poor! Death tolls and losses are mere statistics.
Evidence By: anjum | 18-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward STOP...STOP.STOP...Wasting everybody's time. Media has a difinite role to play in this. They should stop publishing this news everytime. How much more evidence do you want to send when you know Pakistan is hand in glove with theese terrorist outfits. They are not going to take any action to appease INDIA. Appealing to Pakistan
