Watching the turmoil in Pak with concern,India hoped the leadership would be able to resolve their matters amicably.

Watching the turmoil in Pakistan with concern,India on Thursday hoped the leadership of that country would be able to resolve their matters amicably as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday took stock of the situation at the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).

The CCS,chaired by Singh for the first time after his bypass surgery seven weeks back,assessed the implications of political instability in Pakistan,especially on cross-border terrorism which affects India directly,sources said.

The meeting was also attended by External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee,Defence Minister A K Antony and Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Pakistan is witnessing political crisis leading to speculation that there could be a change of guard with army assuming greater role. India is watching the developments with concern as these have direct impact on this country.

After the meeting,Mukherjee said India wants to see a stable government in Pakistan so that it can tackle terrorism emanating from there.

“Pakistan is an important neighbour. I hope that all internal matters will be resolved by its leadership amicably and peacefully,in its best interests,” he said.

“We do hope these issues will be resolved by their own system and by their own mechanism,” Mukherjee said.
