An Indian businessman has been arrested by Thai police on charges of hosting football gambling,a part of an international online gambling organisation,a news report said on Friday.

Police said property developer Karan Singh Thakral was picked up from a luxury condominium as he was part of an online gambling network of Abubakar bin Sulaiman, the Bangkok Post reported today.

Police reportedly found lists of football gambling bets, bankbooks showing cash flows of hundreds of millions of baht and letters warning partners that police have arrested members of their network. They also seized computers from the suspect’s office, the paper said.

The network’s turnover to date is alleged to be in billions, police said, adding that the network was also involved in other illicit businesses.

Though Thakral pleaded innocent of all charges, police said they had enough evidence from previous arrests to prosecute him.

Police have seized 865 bank accounts belonging to 432 people in the gambling network. They said 361 bank accounts belonging to 231 people, containing a total of 302 million baht, had been frozen.

The gambling network is allegedly headed by two Malaysians,Chin Pengwong and Martin Ialunglim, who are the subject of Thai arrest warrants.
