Indian Makeover

Twenty-one international designer brands have now added an Indian spunk to their garments. If Burberry has a trench coat in Maheshwari silk, a sensual Roberto Cavalli gown is made of Rajasthani bandhani, Naeem Khan has stitched up a strapless gown in Kanchipuarm silk and Jimmy Choo has used Benarasi brocade for a gorgeous pair of heels.

An ongoing exhibition at DLF Emporio showcases a beautiful merger of western silhouettes and Indian fabrics. Brands such as Gucci, Missoni, Alberta Ferreti and Prabal Gurung have weaved traditional Indian fabrics, including patola, Orissa ikat and Benarasi brocade to create a collection of gowns, dresses, shoes and bags. Titled "Project Renaissance", the exhibition is an initiative of Vogue India and will be on display till January 30.
