An Indian sailor in Egypt has been quarantined and put under medical observation over suspicion of having swine flu infection,a health ministry spokesperson has said.
“Quarantine authorities have detained a 30-year-old Indian sailor Kamal Pest at Alexandria fever hospital over suspicion of contracting the A (H1N1) virus,raising the number of suspected cases to 101 in the country,” Egyptian Health Ministry spokesperson Abdel Rahman Shahin said on Thursday.
Of these,100 cases have been tested negative for the virus so far by the testing laboratory.
The Indian sailor is the only one under medical observation in the country,he said,adding “Egypt was free of any swine flu cases till now.”
To keep a check on people with swine flu infection entering Egypt,the government has installed thermal scanning cameras at airports to measure the body temperature of passengers,Shahin added.
About 48 countries have officially reported 13,398 cases of swine flu,according to World Health Organisation’s latest updates.
