The Andhra Pradesh police have arrested a software engineer wanted for allegedly murdering his wife and two children in the US in 2008.

According to a statement by Crime Investigation Department (CID), Nerusu Lakshimi Nivas Rao, native of Krishna district and a US green-card holder, is in the wanted list of Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Rao is accused of murdering his wife Nerusu Jayalakshmi, son Siva (12) and daughter Tejasvi (14) at Novi, Michigan, USA in 2008. He allegedly killed his wife first, and then the children when they returned from school two hours later.

On the same day he flew back to Hyderabad via Frankfurt.

The US police detected the crime two weeks later when the relatives reported to the police that they had not heard from the family for quite some time and the school authorities too reported that children were not attending the school.

A US court issued warrant against the accused for 'first degree murder'. The US police and FBI informed the Interpol and issued Red Corner Notice (RCN) which was sent to CBI (Interpol Wing), Delhi, which was communicated to the CID here.
