  • Victoria Police has denied they had a plan to limit publicity about the bashing of three Indian men outside a Melbourne pub on Saturday night.

Four men were arrested in relation to assault and affray, but they were released pending further investigations. Police believe a fifth man may also have been involved in the bashing outside a pub at Epping in Melbourne's east.

Stung by the racial attack against three Indians in Melbourne, Victorian Police on Wednesday said it has launched investigations in to the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Dismissing the contention by relatives of the victims that a group of 70 people attacked the three Indians, it said only four men were involved in the assault and a group of up to 20 were bystanders.

"Four men had been involved in the actual assault and a group of up to 20 had been bystanders," Acting Senior Sergeant Glenn Parker was quoted as saying by 'The Age'.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said police had witnessed about 15 men and women making racist comments and one woman throwing water on a bystander during the heated incident.

She said the group continued to sling racist abuse and threats at the victims as police took them away from the scene. The Victoria Police has launched an investigations "in to the circumstances surrounding the racial attack."

Details of the incident only emerged publicly on Tuesday, prompting an outraged Indian media to claim Victoria Police had been involved in a cover-up.

Jai HindBy: Justice Judy | 18-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward I say, just lynch a few aussies in India and it will all be fair. Or all Indians learn karate. Indians in this section who comment that nothing has happened to them so Aus is a safe place, are the typical Indians who care less about fellow Indians. This is the precise attitude carried by millions of Indians in India itself which is why nothing ever gets done. Only when something happens to our own family or friends or even ourself, its then they start to cry and look for support. Indians need to unite and fight against attrocities being committed on their fellow Indians. And also whatever the problems that exist in India remains in India. Brothers do fight amongst brothers, but they will always be brothers. But when an external enemy fights with you then the brothers unite.
To Jai HindBy: Hind Di Shaan | 18-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward All indians learn karate? That is so dumb. Kickboxing, bodybuilding, wrestling are better sports. Everything else is right.
Justice JudyBy: ray lister | 26-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Indians have been responsible for the death of more Australians than the other way around. An Indian doctor has been charged with medical malpractice leading to the deaths of 15 Australian patients. Of course showing typical Indian bravado he absconded to the USA. Fortunately we have extradiction treaty with the americans and have him back here behind bars where he belongs...You Indian whingers are becoming a giant pain in the ass!
Reason behind australian natureBy: Ankur | 18-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Australians were all criminals of Europe. They were considered most dangerous and notorious not fit for the society. so they were transported to an isolated place far away from Europe. What could u expect from these criminals. They will commit crime coz its their hereditary pblm. And even worse justify them by silly arguments which are often lies. The attacks will continue, until hard punishment is applied. But we need to remember its Australia home of criminals. They dont really like punishing criminals since they all are criminals. Slap on the wrist for assault, 2 years for rape, 5 years for murder. I love this country. And if u commited crime while drunk then no punishment or at most 6 to 8 months for murder. So if u r planning murder or any other crime go to Australia.
Australian natureBy: ray Lister | 26-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Terms of Use say inflamatory, abusive, derogatory language not allowed...ha ha unless you happen to be Indian it seems?????
ray lister/gay lister wateverBy: llyod | 28-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Australians are the most abusive n racist. Now wats the point calling someone using abusive language when u urself do more than him. A comment like this cant hide the truth. If aussies were so good such incidents sudnt have happened n nobody has commented.
lloydBy: ray lister | 28-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Nobody has commented...exactlyI would think that you are a nobody! Your childish labels that you give me show your basic lack of intelligence
ray listerBy: llyod | 29-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward LOL ur stupidity revealed who u r :D another australian racist. go n check nearby medic u r not in a complete mental state. IDIOT
lloydBy: Ray Lister | 29-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward You probably have never travelled out of your village so how you would know about australians being racist. We dont burn innocent people in their cars like has happened in India and the victims were australian. Indian is based on a caste system which is inherently racist anyway. If you have a brain scan you may find that there is nothing there
Ray ListerBy: llyod | 03-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Oh really where is the proof. And u say u dont burn ppl in cars then where do u burn? In homes right! or on roads in groups. or in place of burning u stab ppl using screw driver. Or with bear bottle in bar. U r such a big liar.ok there may be some incidents in india but very few incidents and in villages ppl are illiterate. But in case of australia, ppl are so called educated. And the number of incidents in australia is very high. I never heard any such incidents against aussies in india if u r not lyieng then give me the proof. As far as caste system is concerned it has almost halved in the past 20 years as the government is educating ppl. It will be eliminated soon. But Racism in Australia is increasing.I am just wondering of ur knowledge that its based on caste. India is not based on any religion, caste, color or ethnicity. Its a democracy. very few persons who are illiterate use casteism. No educated person in India do such things. You predict things by ur own and beleive them. I have been not much outside India since I m in high school. But that doesnt mean never travelled outside. Ok ididnt went australia thats another case. I m living in New Delhin its not a village. only a dumb person can think it that way. And I suppose u r. I have visited almost every part of India including villages. And i know better okay. I think u probably were not out of your sick place.so how could u say anything about India. You are in illusion that ur race is superior.Anyways nothing can justify the act of australians. There is a very popular proverb in India - "playing flute in front of buffalo is of no use"I sud better stop replying coz u r sick and will never understand. Ur mind is no that much developed to understand simple things.
Dr PatelBy: ray Lister | 03-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward At least 80 people are now thought to have died at the hands of Queensland's "Dr Death" following evidence provided by the State Government.Premier Peter Beattie said a further 20 deaths had been linked to Indian-trained surgeon Dr Jayant Patel, who is at the centre of a royal commission following checks of patient files at the Bundaberg Base Hospital. In a letter to commissioner Tony Morris, QC, read to the inquiry yesterday, Mr Beattie said: "Information has just been received which would seem to indicate there are potentially 40 more cases that require review."Of these, 20 are deceased and have Dr Patel listed as being involved (in) their care. The remaining 20 are listed as being transferred to other facilities for ongoing care."In an earlier report, Queensland Health had reported that 110 of Dr Patel's patients had either died or needed to be transferred to another hospital for further treatment as a result of surgery he performed. It was later revealed that 67 of those 110 patients had died.Mr Beattie also told State Parliament that he could not rule out further increases in the number of patients who had died as a result of botched surgery performed by Dr Patel during his two years at the hospital.AdvertisementAdvertisementDr Patel, the former director of surgery at the Bundaberg hospital, fled Australia at Easter after it was discovered he had been struck off and discredited in the US for botched surgery that killed a number of patients.
Indian murderersBy: ray lister | 03-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Graham Stuart Staines (1941-January 1999) was an Australian missionary who was burnt to death along with his two sons Philip (aged 9) and Timothy (aged 7) while sleeping in his station wagon at Manoharpur village in Keonjhar district in Orissa, India in January 1999. In 2003, the Hindu activist Dara Singh was convicted of leading the gang.Graham Staines had been working in Orissa among the tribal poor and especially with leprosy patients since 1965. Google yourself if you dont believe ignoramus
Ray listerBy: llyod | 03-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward Better you Google who is doing what. (once again u remarked me with a word which you are yourself and its not at all applicable to me but fully applicable to u)There are daily events of Racism in AUSTRALIA. check the number of incidents and brutality done in each case. There are even pictures and videos and documentaries availaible watch them and judge yourself. And after watching them all answer me Are the Australians Really educated ? Are u like one of them ?
Ignoring the factsBy: Ray Lister | 05-Oct-2009 Reply | Forward No comment on incidents involving murder of australians in India? Of course ignore it.and then the indian doctor responsible for multiple deaths in australia..ignore it? Hypocrites like you who think racism only occurs when a white person does something to a coloured person and not vice versa. And then the case of the Indian student, while drunk driving killed an australian pedestrian and like the coward he was fled back to india rather than face the court system here. These incidents have resulted in a large number of australian dying at the hands of indians but the term racism is not used in these cases. Perhaps it is a sign of your inferiority complex that you suffer from coming from what is still essentially a third world country
Stay away from trouble and avoid groups and booze.By: Brian Ford | 17-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward Seems every race has to have it's turn at being victims to Australian prejudice. It seems that some people don't respect the fact that this is multicultural melting pot with the only rule being " cool it till they settle in mate " We all need a voice , a place and a sense of belonging. Respect what is here ,respect the indigenous people, respect the generations of Australians that pioneered this great country and be still and quiet and listen , just listen to the birds and the laughing kookaburras that think some of us silly folk are acting like gallahs. Some might say if you don't like it go home.Well for many that option is not possible so like it or lump it we have to learn to live with our differences and get on with the purpose of life the pursuit of happiness. There is enough room for everyone just leave your religions and elitisms in the past. She'll be right mate ,have a barbie and lets be friends.
MrBy: Feroz | 17-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward I have been in Sydney for the last 9 years and have never come across any discrimination what so ever so far. A vast majority of Aussies are very friendly and helpful. There are always a few bad elements in every society. I have always felt more welcome and safe in Australia than I ever was in my own country India where everything depends on your religion to an extent that people are burnt to death based on their religion. This would never happen in the civilised Australia.
Aussie Media.By: Amit | 17-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward I have been living in sydney for last 6 years. Racism was always here although in a subtle way. At work they would find it hard to see indian performing better than them. When the chance comes for promotion it would be a white person. Its sad to see that its getting physical now.The worst is aussie print media and tv (except SBS).They didnt even cover this news. Its only mentioned in one newspaper right at the bottom . Otherwise no mention at all. They would cover any stupid news but not this.
A different point of viewBy: Rod | 17-Sep-2009 Reply | Forward If you read the previous article carefully, "26 year-old Sukhdip Singh, who arrived in Australia a month ago on a spouse visa, his brother Gurdeep Singh and uncle Mukhtair Singh" I lived in australia for the last 12 years and am of Russian origin, my girlfriend is Nepalese born in India, and I know that the the reason most Indians come to Australia is for a visa as there is a lot more opportunity for the everyday person and a lot more equality than where they come from. I read that due to the economic crisis in India, farmers are selling theor wives and children to Brothels to settle debts with loan sharks, in Australia that doesn't happen. If you can't pay, you go bankrupt, and the bank won't force it's way into your hause and take your wife or your daughter, Before critisising someone, critisise yourselves. And if you don't like something then don't do it, if you don't like someplace, don't go there, simple.
