With a slew of movies by our filmmakers, India was a big headline at TIFF.

festivals is on the rise and this year, close to a dozen films were screened at the 37th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) that started on September 6. The 10

Indian films screened under the City to City programme included Ashim Ahluwalia's Miss Lovely, Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur I and II and Vasan Bala's Peddlers, among others. However, the premiere of Deepa Mehta's Midnight's Children on Sunday turned out to be an impressive red carpet affair. Shahana Goswami and Anita Majumdar followed. The cast and crew of Mira Nair's The Reluctant Fundamentalist was in attendance at its screening, too, with Kate Hudson and Kiefer Sutherland adding some Hollywood glamour.

Anupam Kher joined the team of David O Russels' Silver Linings Playbook, where he features alongside Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence and Robert De Niro.
