"We are facing a huge financial crunch. We are not ready to frame the incentive scheme for industrialists. As a result, the Industrial Policy for 2013 is delayed," Chatterjee said at Writers' Buildings.
At Bengal Leads, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said that it was difficult to frame the incentive scheme as per the wishes of industrialists.
Under the new incentive scheme proposed by industrialists, districts in the state would be classified into three categories.
To encourage industrialisation in backward districts, the number of years for fiscal incentives and ceiling on the magnitude of such incentives have been increased to 15 years as against 9 years in the previous budget. A comprehensive rehabilitation package for sick and closed units has also been proposed by industrialists.
White paper on Rly projects
KOLKATA:Minister of State for Railways Adhir Chowdhury on Monday announced he would bring out a white paper on the status of railway projects that were announced by Mamata Banerjee during her tenure at Rail Bhavan. The white paper will cite reasons for non-viability of these projects, he said.
"I have gone through the details of various Railway projects that were announced by former railway minister Mamata Banerjee and after going through the detailed project report it was learnt that the projects were not at all viable," Chowdhury said.
Citing certain examples like the East West Metro Project, which was stuck because of land acquisition problem, he said "if the state government does not have a fixed land acquisition policy, it is difficult to carry out rail projects."
