Infiltration bid foiled in Kashmir; 5 militants killed

Army on Wednesday foiled an infiltration bid from across the border by killing five heavily-armed militants in Gurez Sector of North Kashmir. A defence spokesman said a group of militants were seen sneaking into this side in the wee hours. As soon as they entered into the Indian side,troops guarding the borders confronted them and asked them to surrender but they opened fire.

In the ensuing encounter,five militants were killed,the spokesman said. The operation was continuing.
