Inflation fell for the fourth week straight to reach 8.4 per cent, the lowest in more than seven months. The annual rate of inflation, according to data released today, slipped 0.44 percentage points over the previous week as a result of falling international crude oil prices.
The wholesale price index (WPI) for the fuel group of commodities fell a considerable 2.3 per cent because of lower prices of aviation turbine fuel, furnace oil, naphtha, light diesel oil and bitumen. The index for the manufactured products too fell 0.2 per cent due to a fall in the indices of almost all the sub-groups constituting this group.
