The curiosity to understand the anatomy of Harley Davidson bikes drew a large number of enthusiasts to IIT Bombay’s Padarth 2011,an annual materials and technical festival organised by the college’s department of metallurgical engineering and material sciences (MEMS). Over 3,000 people were present at the event on the final day with 2,000 lining up for the exhibition cum presentation on bikes. Aptly called What’s Inside, the exhibition aimed to expose the parts of Harley Davidson and Royal Enfield bikes.

“It was amazing to see experts dismantle and reassemble parts of Royal Enfield bike for the spectators. Detailed presentation was given on the parts of Harley Davidson and its making. We all know bikers are crazy about this bike but during the exhibition we realised that they were even more curious to see whats inside these mean machines,” said Mojit Jani,a third year student and media manager for Padarth 2011.

Aakarsh Rai,one of the co-ordinators,said,“Apart from students,we had groups of bikers and biking enthusiasts from Mumbai,Pune and Nashik. Our online and offiline competitions also saw good participation.”

Padarth hosted workshops on topics such as Forensics, harnessing ocean energy and waste management. A lecture series was organised on materials science and technology.
