Inspector suspended for thrashing woman before media

An inspector was suspended after he thrashed a woman arrested on charge of killing her husband in Sultanpur on Wednesday afternoon.

An inspector was suspended after he thrashed a woman arrested on charge of killing her husband in Sultanpur on Wednesday afternoon.

Sangeeta Kumar had backtracked on her statement,following which Inspector Kailashnath Dwivedi of the Musafirkhana police station lost his temper and began thrashing her in full view of mediapersons.  

Early on Wednesday morning,the police recovered the body of Sangeeta’s husband Deepak Kumar at his home.

A hunt was launched for Sangeeta,who was absconding. Around 10.30 am,she was arrested and brought to the police station.

The police said during questioning,she had confessed to strangulating her husband with a saree while he was sleeping.

“When the media came to the police station after her arrest and Inspector

Kailashnath Dwivedi was briefing them,Sangeeta went back on her statement. Then the Inspector lost his temper,” said Satyendra Veer Singh,Superintendent of Police,Sultanpur.

“Appropriate action will be taken after inquiries.”
