The Haryana government has decided to create an Utkrisht Khiladi Kosh (UK-3) to provide insurance benefits to all outstanding sportspersons in the state. The insurance will cover athletes against any eventuality or adverse consequence arising out of a sporting engagement,said Kiran Choudhary,Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs,yesterday. The Kosh aims to arrange cashless treatment facilities for sportspersons through a tripartite agreement between UK-3,insurance companies and hospitals.
Choudhary also announced that the government intends to increase its matching contributions to the construction of sports stadiums from fifty per cent to ninety-five per cent for village-level stadiums,ninety per cent for block-level stadiums,and one-hundred per cent for sports complexes at the district headquarters.
District sports complexes are being constructed in Fatehabad and Kaithal districts,she added,with sports complexes planned for Mewat,Sonepat,Palwal and Jhajjar. Village-level stadiums were sanctioned this year.
