Mamata has appointed new chairmen of 20 RRBs as part of a revamping exercise.

Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee has ordered removal of chairmen of all Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) across the country, appointed during the tenure of RJD chief Lalu Prasad.

A senior railway official said the Ministry has appointed new chairmen of 20 RRBs as part of a revamping exercise. The orders for the appointment of the new chairmen were passed two days back.

It is learnt that all these chairman were appointed during the tenure of former railway minister Lalu Prasad. A senior railway official is appointed in the post of RRB chairman for a tenure of three years.

The RRBs are situated at 20 cities across the country. In recent times, some of them were mired in controversy with allegations of largescale irregularities and repeated question paper leak in RRB exams.

The massive revamping exercise is aimed at streamlining the recruitment process in RRBs, officials said.

Here, Mamata is right ...By: Manoj | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Both Mamata and Laloo are regional leaders. But, Laloo was blindly going for Biharis in Railway jobs in Class III and IV categories. The Class III and IV jobs should essentially be for local people. Malpractices were galore to ensure that Biharis were being pushed in these jobs in Maharashtra, Karnataka etc. Bengal is already full of Biharis in Railways if one takes a reality check in the stations of Howrah, Kharagpur, Asansol or NJP.

sacked by MamataBy: Sagar | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Let us hope Didi will not end up replacing them with only Bengalies!
RRB babu's sackingBy: Sudheeer | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Although the action seems arbitrary, it sound alomost puzzling that Bihari's travel all over the country and most of them get selected, pl note, only in Railways. Was their a maltractice ? If not, this should not affect the bright biharis.
I hope Mamata will redress some of those malaises created by LalooBy: Abhijit | 07-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward All recruitments in India are based on politics, regionalism, nepotism and many other forms of corruption. University VCs, directors of national institutes are not spared. During Laloo%u2019s term all the plum positions were given mainly to Biharis and they tried their best to push Biharis whenever possible, even where it was not so possible (as in Assam). I hope Mamata will redress some of those malaises and be little more neutral to give semi-skilled and unskilled jobs to locals only.
ALL RECRUITERS ARE DISHONESTBy: Ravinder Rana | 07-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Please do not paint every one with the same brush. I was Director Recruiting (Maharashtra & Gujrat) for Army and Navy and I can look anyone in the eye and tell him/her that I did not make a single pie due to my appointment or did not take any advantage directly or indirectly due to my position. I also did not compromise on any standards and even when plenty of candidates were available, took the best and not only who just fulfilled the basic requirements. There are still plenty of Indians who believe in doing their day's honest job and getting a good night's sleep. Jai Hind. Col (Retd) R S Rana
Jai HindBy: Shuja | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward JAI HIND!
ALL RECRUITERS ARE NOT (NOT) DISHONESTBy: Ravinder Rana | 08-Nov-2009 Reply | Forward Oops!!! I meant to give the heading as "ALL RECRUITERS ARE NOT (NOT) DISHONEST". The rest of my statement still stands.
