City-based Terre Policy Centre in collaboration with Club Vasundhara, UNEP Ozone Action Group and Safe Planet Campaign celebrated International Ozone Day on Thursday. The Safe Planet Film Festival organised by these organisations highlighted the efforts to be taken to protect the Ozone layer. Three short films were shown at the National Film Archives of India showcasing bad effects of Ozone-depleting substances. Five Gyres directed by Anna Cummins introduced the sea dragon to monitor plastic and POP pollution in Atlantic Ocean. Eco-Crime-Ozone Killers, directed by Heinz Greuling, showcased the trade in banned chemicals that are hazardous for Ozone layer . Ozzy Ozone created by UNEP was an animated awareness video explaining threats to Ozone layer and how children can protect themselves from getting exposed to ultra-violet rays.
