International symposium on molecular technology begins at PU

A two-day international symposium on ‘Recent Developments in Molecular Technology’ began at the Panjab University campus on Saturday.

A two-day international symposium on ‘Recent Developments in Molecular Technology’ began at the Panjab University campus on Saturday. The conference was inaugurated by NIPER Director Professor P Rama Rao.

Dr Rao emphasised on the need to develop technologies,which are viable and accessible to a majority of the population in India. He also stressed on the need to develop personalised medicine keeping in mind the genetic polymorphism in different ethnic groups.

Prof D Kaul,Professor and Head,Department of Experimental Medicine and Biotechnology,PGI,Chandigarh deliberated on ‘Rnomics in Health and Diseases’.

Prof Attila Tarnok from Germany delivered a talk on ‘Polychromatic Cytometry’. This was followed by a lecture on the use of Flow Cytometric techniques in Plants by Prof David W Galbraith from the University of Arizona,USA. Dr Susann Mueller from Germany talked about Microbial Cytometry.

Dr Henning Ulrich and Dr Rober M Zucker spoke on Modulation of Neuronal Differentiation by Bradykinin Receptors and ‘Confocal Imaging’ respectively.
