It's been more than a year since the Haryana Roadways department promised an inter-sector bus service for the residents of Panchkula. The project now seems to have fallen flat on the face.

Talking to Newsline, a Haryana Roadways official said on condition of anonymity: “The department is short of staff. Starting an inter-sector bus service would therefore be not feasible at present.”

Residents here rue the fact that the most developed district of Haryana has no proper inter-state bus service.

“Most of the official institutions of Haryana are located in the district. It was almost a year ago when there were talks of an inter-sector bus service. The public transport system has failed in the region and the residents are forced to spend on private vehicles,” said Sumit Aggarwal, a resident of Sector 14.

Geeta Chopra, a resident of Sector 25 said: “My office is in Sector 6 and as there is no bus service in the area. This creates a lot of inconvenience.”
