More and more players would dump Test cricket and succumb to the lure of Twenty20 if the Indian Premier League does not get a window in the ICC calendar, warned former Australian stumper Adam Gilchrist.
In London to deliver the MCC Spirit of Cricket Cowdrey Lecture, Gilchrist would advise the administrators to embrace the shortest format of the game and create a window for IPL to stop elite players from turning their back on Test cricket and taking the Twenty20 plunge.
“We’ve very much got to be prepared for that. I don’t think it should be a shock when it does happen or if it does happen,” Gilchrist was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
